Tonight my cell phone rang, and on the other end was "Hi Mom"! My heart skipped a beat, then Ryan told me he had been given a 3 minute phone call to let me know that his flight had been changed to Tuesday, and to give me the flight information. He will be traveling with his companion, Elder Kendel, and one other sister however her companion is being re-assigned because she did not receive her visa.
It was so good to hear his voice. He sounded so happy, it is hard to explain. I asked him if he enjoyed the MTC and he said that he LOVED it. And that he is loving everything about his mission so far.
He indicated that he was probably going to ditch his third suitcase because Air New Zealand will charge for a 3rd bag, and of course, Mr. Tightwad Ryan would not want to spend money on something that was unnecessary. He said that he would find someone to pass it on to or just leave it at the MTC. He is a funny one. I told them that he could get reimbursed for the extra bag fee, but no, does not want any expense. Somethings never change.
It does a Mother good to hear her kids voice...and there is a tender mercy to this story... I had just turned on the ringer to my phone 10 minutes before, or I would have never heard him call.
Thank goodness for the Tender Mercies of the Lord.
